Grotesque Smiles
from "Malediction"
(Buy on Etsy)

I never lost a 16-year-old’s hatred of religion;
turns out it was buried in a 34-year-old brain.
Once again I roll eyes at prayers
and laugh at the grotesque smiles of church-goers.
I laugh at them giving money
to a priesthood that would send most of them to Hell.
I laugh at their fake-sorry-face
as they stand in line for confession.
Inbreeding, generation after generation of the stupid
is the effect of religion, and its destroying us all.
